Course Description
This course serves as an introduction to the art of graphic design. We are going to explore the theory and practice of various design techniques to gain a better understanding of how to manipulate pixel based images and vector graphics. Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, students learn editing techniques to enable them to improve on their visual communication skills.
Course Objectives
After successful completion of this course the student should:
- Better understand techniques creative designers use to communicate visually.
- Have a thorough working knowledge of designing using popular design tools.
- Understand image formats and color modes.
- Understand color theory and color meanings.
- Design business cards, posters, flyers, staff IDs, brochures etc.
- Be able to retouch images by learning how to color correct and grading.
